How to Spend Your Time in the Beautiful Bodega Bay…

Armstrong Redwoods

Make your day a fun filled outdoor adventure by including Armstrong Redwoods during your trip to the coast. Located halfway between the Honor Mansion and Bodega Bay, its the perfect addition to your itinerary. Armstrong Redwoods is a living reminder of the magnificent redwood forest that covered much of this area before logging began in the 19th century. Armstrong Redwoods preserves Sequoia sempervirens, commonly known as the coast redwood. The ancient coast redwood is the tallest living thing on our planet!  The reserve includes a visitor center, self-guided nature trails, and a variety of picnic facilities.

Chanslor Ranch Nature Retreat 

Open year-round, horseback riding with Chanslor Ranch is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Chanslor Ranch’s Guided Trail Ride Program offers varying trail lengths that take you along mountain tops, grassy meadows, coastal dunes and white sandy beaches. The Sonoma Coastline is the perfect environment to enjoy horseback riding! 

Bodega Head

This small rocky peninsula offers stunning bluff top vistas, enticing trails, beach access, and abundant wildlife viewing! Depending on the time of year, you can get the chance to see seabirds, seals and even migrating whales! Volunteers from the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods Whale Watch Public Education Program can be found here on weekends January through Mother’s Day, answering questions and sharing their knowledge of whales and migration. Bodega Head shelters the bay and harbor from the power of the Pacific Ocean. Composed of rugged granite, the Head is a bit off of the main route, making it a delightful place to explore.

Fishetarian Fish Market

With the slogan “sustainable food & good eats,” you know you’re going to get a fresh, delicious meal at Fishetarian. Their main focus is to protect the natural beauty of Northern California’s oceans. This eatery uses biodegradable and recyclable tableware and offers classic seafood dishes made with a healthy twist. Be sure to stop by for a bite when you’re in Bodega!

Goat Rock Beach

Goat Rock Beach is known for its scenic shoreline, easily accessible beaches and harbor seal watching! Picnic facilities and restrooms available onsite. It’s location is actually in Jenner, California which you will pass by on your way to Bodega Bay. March through August is pupping season for the colony of seals that call this beach home. State Park Seal Watch Program Guides can be found there on weekends during those months. If you only stop at one beach location during your day trip, you’ll want to stop here!

Patrick’s of Bodega Bay

The perfect stop for a sweet treat! While driving through the beautiful Sonoma Coastline, check out Patrick’s of Bodega Bay Salt Water Taffy. Their iconic pink and white boutique shop is home to an extensive variety of taffy flavors at great prices. You will want to taste them all!

River’s End

River’s End is located just 20 minutes away from Bodega Bay where the Russian River meets the coast. Indulge in a delicious meal while enjoy panoramic ocean views. You can see Goat Rock Beach from this restaurant! Reservations strongly recommended. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Spud Point Crab Company

A trip to Bodega Bay isn’t complete without a taste of Spud Point Crab Company’s world-famous chowder. They’ve won first for almost a decade at the annual Bodega Bay Chowder Day. They serve up other fisherman favorites including hot dogs, chili dogs, crab cakes, fish n chips and tri-tip sandwiches.
