Soda Rock Winery is a historic winery in the Alexander Valley region of Sonoma County, California. It’s the original site of the Alexander Valley General Store and has been an area landmark since the 1800’s. Onsite is a moss-covered stone building, an old barn, and a water tower.
Ken and Diane Wilson purchased the property in 2000 and started a massive restoration project to repair the buildings. The couple has other winery properties in Sonoma including deLorimier, Jaxon Keys, Matrix, Mazzocco, Pezzi King, and Wilson Winery. Today, guests are invited to visit Soda Rock Winery and experience its fascinating and historic past. Here are some of our favorite things to do there.
Spend an Afternoon at Soda Rock Winery
1. Admire the Vineyards
With 500 acres of vineyard land in Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys, Wilson estate vineyards produce an incredible selection of grapes. The couple’s hands-on cultivation practices result in grapes with astounding flavors and create wines that are powerful and elegant. Head to the picnic grounds at Soda Rock Winery for a gorgeous view of Alexander Valley and the surrounding vineyard.
2. Visit the Tasting Room
The tasting room at Soda Rock Winery offers a comfortable atmosphere for your tasting experience. The winery currently produces Bordeaux varietals like Malbec, Merlot, Petite Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. They even have refreshing whites like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, or Zinfandel. Guests are welcome to sip current release wines at the massive tasting room bar, in a lounge area, or on the picnic grounds. Feel free to call ahead for a private wine tasting or gourmet picnic lunch. The tasting room is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
3. Take a Tour
For a behind-the-scenes look at Soda Rock Winery and other Wilson wineries, be sure to sign up for the VIP Luxury Tour package.
