The next time you stay at the Honor Mansion, take a trip to Ramey Vineyards and see what makes this winery so special.
What You’ll See at Ramey Vineyards
David Ramey is a veteran of high-quality winemaking in California and worked in France at top Napa wineries like Rudd Vineyards and Dominus before settling in Healdsburg. Today, he merges Old World methods with new, cutting-edge innovations and creates critically acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Syrah as his primary varietals.
When it comes to grape growing, the Ramey’s believe they are guided by the soul of the land. The soil, climate, geography, and geology of the region all play a part in giving each of the wines a distinct flavor and character. Ramey Vineyards carefully selects growing locations in California to produce the best grapes for their wine and has three vineyards in Napa Valley and six in Sonoma County.
Ramey Wine Cellars is located on Healdsburg Avenue and is open for wine tastings by appointment. Monday through Saturday at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, guests can enjoy a relaxed, seating tasting lead by an experienced host and will be able to learn about and appreciate the wines. Tastings last approximately one hour and are $25 per guest.
- Ramey Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard: Sourced from a vineyard in the heart of the Russian River Valley, this wine has a tropical feel with sweet guava, orange zest, and spice notes.
- Ramey Syrah Sonoma Coast: The fruit for this Syrah is sourced from vineyards that get a lot of cooling fog, giving the wine a delicious flavor of blueberries and blackberries.
- Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley: This wine is 85% Cabernet and is finished with small amounts of Merlot, Malbec, and Petite Verdot. The wine is a beautiful dark ruby color and has smoky notes of dried cherry, black currant, and blackberry. The fruit is sweet and ripe but finishes pleasantly dry.
