Hiking Sonoma County offers outdoor enthusiasts many sky-high mountain peaks and rolling green hills to explore. Hiking Sonoma County is easy when you stay here at Honor Mansion. We are located less than an hour from all the state parks and beaches making it the ideal spot for a day trip. Here are just a few of our favorite spots you’ll want to visit.

3 of the Best Places for Hiking in Sonoma County
1. Armstrong Redwoods
A fun day trip from the Honor Mansion is the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Sitting along the Russian River, this preserve is home to several redwoods which can tower as tall as 350 feet in the air. No matter your level of difficulty, the area is home to a multitude of trails ranging from easy 1 mile walks to a strenuous 9-mile hike with a 1,500-foot climb. Pair this hike with a trip to the coast for the ultimate outdoor adventure!
2. Healdsburg Ridge
Home to views of Fitch Mountain and Lake Sonoma Basin is Healdsburg Ridge. This area is peaceful and serene as the trails are shaded by oak trees and open up to grassy areas. Be sure to bring a picnic and soak it all in. When coming to Healdsburg Ridge to hike, there is a paved trail that runs up to the Russian River Overlook. For a more moderate hike, check out the dirt path that runs up to the Ridge Trail.
3. Lake Sonoma
Another local spot for hiking in Sonoma County is Lake Sonoma. More than 40 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails travel around the two main arms of this lake. Views include rolling coastal foothills of redwood groves, oak woodlands, mixed forests, grassy slopes and steep hills. Varying hike options for all levels! Picnic spots available and the Warm Spring Fish Hatchery at the Lake Sonoma Visitors Center is great too! Start your day at Lake Sonoma and then stop into some of our favorite Dry Creek Valley wineries on your way back to the Inn!
Tips for Hiking Sonoma County
When hiking Sonoma County, you want to make sure you are fully prepared. The area is home to a wide variety of wildlife, terrain, and climates. Depending on the length of your hike, you’ll want to dress in layers, bring plenty of water and a snack, and wear sunscreen. Most parks will offer a park map so be sure to pick one up before you begin. We can’t wait to hear all about your adventures!
