The artifacts at the Healdsburg Museum include historic materials that give guests insight into the city and its past. Guests can view a variety of Pomo and Wappo Indian items including baskets, stone tools, and ethnographic research materials from the tribes.
Guests will also find artifacts and uniforms from local men and women who served in the Armed Forces. Paintings, furniture, and household items can be found throughout the museum. You’ll also find architectural remnants including the original doorknob from City Hall and floor plans of historic buildings. From artifacts and newspapers to maps and photographs, the Healdsburg Museum & Historical Society collection showcases the rich history of northern Sonoma County. It is one of the finest regional collections in California. Documents, local history and genealogy books, and city records are available for use in the Research Center. And, the entire Healdsburg Museum photos collection of over 18,000 photos is available online.
A touch-screen computer station in the gallery allows visitors to explore architectural aspects of Healdsburg history, review photos, examine artifacts, learn about iconic figures, and enjoy film clips of the city. Guests can even partake in an animated 3-D tour of the historic Plaza, so you can “stroll” through town on a rainy day!
