Is the Healdsburg Farmers Market Worth a Visit?

Founded in 1978, the Healdsburg Farmers Market has been providing Sonoma County with fresh produce for decades and is one of the original 22 Certified Farmer’s Markets in California. This non-profit organization is owned and operated by the farmers and vendors of the market, who bring their agricultural products to town from farms within 10 miles of Healdsburg Plaza. On a warm summer day, visitors can peruse a wide variety of goods including fresh fruit, vegetables, and much more – and it’s all just minutes from the Honor Mansion! Here’s what you’ll find at the Healdsburg Farmers Market.

Mission

The Healdsburg Farmers Market strives to educate the public about the importance and health benefits of supporting local agriculture by bringing high-quality, reasonably priced produce to the community. They also host a variety of events throughout the year, like the Zucchini Festival and Pumpkin Festival, and cooking demonstrations are offered on the second Saturday of every month so guests can learn how to prepare and enjoy their farmers market finds. Be sure to check the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce calendar of events for more information on upcoming programs and festivals!

Vendors

There’s nothing better than biting into a fresh apple or a juicy tomato, and you’ll find it all at the Healdsburg Farmers Market. One of the most popular vendors is Dry Creek Peaches, a family-run farm that grows some of the best organic peaches in the world! In addition to seasonal and sustainable produce, the farmer’s market offers fresh flowers, local cheese, honey, olive oil, fish, farm-raised meat products, and fresh eggs. Plus, if you arrive early in the morning, you can join local chefs as they hunt for the best vegetables for their menus! The market is open on Saturdays from 9 AM to noon May through November and Wednesdays from 3 PM to 6 PM June through October.

The Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market

While you’re in the area, be sure to stop by the Santa Rosa Farmers Market, a Sonoma County landmark since 1967. This market is open year-round on Saturdays and Wednesdays and offers fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, honey, nuts, herbs, plants, and flowers, all of which are grown and harvested in California. They suggest visiting the Wednesday market so that guests can speak directly to their favorite vendors when the crowds are smaller.
